Charity Redesign
A new web design for a Swedish charity organization. Their name has been left out until they have launched their new page.
Production
The project was initialized by conducting a usability test with the help of Silverback. I studied how people interacted with the client’s current website — what was good, what was bad and what I’d have to pay attention to. The test subjects were recorded with webcam along with a recording of the screen as they visited the site for the first time. Each test was followed up by a short interview, discussing their experience and listening to their reactions. After finishing a report on the analysis, the design phase began. The client’s biggest flaw was their current search engine. It was in a sense their most important thing they offered, but despite of that it was poorly executed. I started out by making a few rough sketches over the functions and layout of the new design, and they were then brought to life with Photoshop. A big challenge was to make it more fun and friendly without loosing too much of their serious and trusty look. I decided to play more with photos and icons, but to keep the flat surfaces. I created a background pattern based on the client’s logo, and used it to lighten up the design. The design has not yet been implemented and can not be viewed live.
